Ace to Five Lowball

Ace to Five Lowball (also A-5 Lowball Triple Draw)

Ace to five lowball is played with the same structure as five card draw, however it is played using lowball rules and there are three draws rather than one. The best possible hand in lowball poker is A-2-3-4-5 irrespective of suit.

Before any cards are dealt, the two players left of the dealer are required to post the small and big blind respectively. The small blind is half the lower stake limit; where as the big blind is equal to the lower stake limit. The big blind is also the size of the minimum bet.

Blinds are utilized to force the betting action. As a result both blinds are considered to be live bets, and hence the big blind is able to check in addition to raising the bet, calling and folding.

After the blinds, cards are dealt. After each player has been dealt their cards, the first of the four betting rounds commences. In each betting round players have three options; to fold, check or bet.

After all players have acted, any players remaining in the hand are able to draw up to five cards in an effort to improve their hand. Following this, another betting round takes place followed by another draw. This sequence takes place one more time before the final round of betting is carried out.

The showdown takes place after the final betting round and any remaining players must show down their hand. The player with the best hand wins the pot.
