Badugi Triple Draw Poker

Badugi is a form of triple draw poker where each player is dealt four cards and the aim is to hold four different cards of four different suits. The lower the cards the better. So the best hand in Badugi is A-2-3-4 of all different suits.

Before any cards are dealt, the two players left of the dealer are required to post the small and big blind respectively. The small blind is half the lower stake limit; where as the big blind is equal to the lower stake limit. The big blind is also the size of the minimum bet.

Blinds are utilized to force the betting action. As a result both blinds are considered to be live bets, and hence the big blind is able to check in addition to raising the bet, calling and folding.

After the blinds, cards are dealt. After each player has been dealt their cards, the first of the four betting rounds commences. In each betting round players have three options; fold, check or bet.

After all players have acted, any players remaining in the hand are able to draw up to four cards in an effort to improve their hand. Following the draw, the second round of betting commences. After the second round of betting has taken place, there is another draw and another round of betting. This occurs once more until the showdown.

So there are 4 rounds of betting interspersed with three draws in total. At the showdown the player with the best Badugi hand wins the pot.
